International week - South Africa

International week - South Africa
In my second year Multimedia and communication technology I went to South Africa for a project week. The week was organized by the Belgium Campus ITversity. During this week we worked in groups on a project with students from the college and students from Belgium and the Netherlands.

The project was build around the theme of Smart Cities. In a group of five students, of which two South African, we had to come up with a plan to improve the management of a fictional city, named Kaputsylvania. The city was divided into seven different regions with their own way of managing their water supply, power supply, sanitation, solid waste management, public transport, e-governance and robust IT connectivity. None of the systems worked together. If citizens had a problem with a system they could contact a call center, but it often took very long for a problem to be fixed.

Because the problem was very technical, more technical than what I was used to, my fellow team mates took on the task to come up with a good solution. What I did have was some design skills. So I took on the task of making a logo and strong presentation with which we could 'wow' the jury. Some other teams saw the logo I made, and asked me to make one for them as well. The three logos I made are below.

Even though I did not get to work on my technical skills, I did get to work on my design skills. I am still very happy with the results and every time I look at them, they bring up some very good memories. All in all, a very succesful week.
